Guide›Doing It Well
Getting the best from STREET
In short: A few things that make STREET run smoothly for you and your customers. Little of this is new if you already sell online. It mostly comes back to the one thing STREET changes: speed.
Speed is the difference
You already know how to pack an order and hand it to a courier. STREET changes one thing: the customer is expecting it the same day, often within an hour or two of ordering, depending on the courier. Everything below comes back to that.
What tends to work well
- Picking up new orders quickly. The sooner you accept, the sooner a rider can be on the way.
- Keeping stock accurate, so a same-day order is one you can actually fulfil.
- Clear photos and descriptions, since customers are deciding quickly.
- A quick word to the customer if something is going to be delayed. People are forgiving when they are kept in the loop.
Where retailers sometimes get caught out
- Orders left past the acceptance window. A missed order is cancelled, not passed on, so it is a sale lost outright.
- Stock that has drifted out of date, leading to a same-day order that cannot be completed.
- Going quiet when there is a hitch, which is what tends to turn a small issue into a complaint.
- Refunding the delivery fee on a return without realising it comes out of your own pocket (see Returns and Refunds).
Worth knowing: none of these are rules. They are simply the handful of things that, on a same-day service, tend to separate a smooth order from a frustrated customer.
